Light-based methodology surpasses digital methods in locating phones and other signal-emitting gadgets.
A new analogue photonic correlator has been developed by researchers that can be used to find an object transmitting a radio signal. They showed that it could pinpoint the position of a radio frequency transmitter faster than other methods. The device is far simpler than today's analogue or digital correlators, and it processes a wide range of radio frequency signals in cell phones, signal jammers, and other devices using off-the-shelf telecoms components.
