There are two health care issues that can make Canadian pet owners consider buying Canadian Pet Health Insurance for their family pets. Cancer and Tularemia. Cancer is a type of malignant tumor or tumors that invade surrounding tissues and use the bloodstream to spread to other parts of the body. Some cancers recur even after removal of a damaged tumor. Cancer can cause that unless the tumor is removed and any remaining cancer cells are properly treated. Thanks to advances in animal care on nutritional needs pets live longer. As a direct result of the longevity of family pets wearing many cases of cancer are evident. Symptoms that a family pet may have cancer are abnormal swelling that continues to grow, sores on the heels, bleeding or other discharge from the exposed areas of the body, pets have difficulty eating and swallowing, persistent limping, shortness of breath, painful urination, persistent cough, weight loss, fever, discomfort. food, and energy. If you notice that your pet is experiencing any person or combination of symptoms you should consult your local veterinarian. Not so long ago cancer and pets were the kiss of death. In today's highly developed medicine world the effect of your pet is very good. Early detection followed by timely intervention is best here for your pet cancer. In some cases a simple removal of the tumor is the only requirement for some cancer cells. Some types of cancer need or need surgery. Surgery has a high success rate with early detection of cancer. If your pet has an inoperable tumor your veterinarian may recommend radiation, chemicals, or biological treatments. Radiation therapy exposes harmful cells to high levels of radiation in the hope that the radiation will kill the cancer cells. Chemotherapy is a treatment designed to kill cancer cells. In particularly aggressive forms of chemotherapy cancer treatment and radiation are used in combination. If your pet is diagnosed with cancer talk to your veterinarian and call your pet's health insurance agent to find out what can be done to extend your pet's life. On October 2, 2004 Health Canada issued a warning about possible health concerns for small and common hamsters called Tularemia. Tularemia is commonly found in all muskrats, squirrels, beavers, rabbits, skunks, lovers, bison, foxes, opossums, and woodchucks. Although Tularemia is rarely seen in dogs and cats, it can be contaminated with water, rabbit food, and tick bites. Common symptoms of Tularemia are fever, loss of appetite, weakness, and diarrhea. If the condition was left untreated, infected animals would often die. A standard treatment program for pets infected with Tularemia is to start by removing any infected ticks from your pet's fur. After that the drugs Strptomycin and Gentamycin are given for one to two weeks. Tetracycline and Chloramphencicol have also been used to treat pets diagnosed with Tularemia...
