More than ever, video games are an integral part of our culture. Regardless of age or gender, more than 50% of individuals in the US, UK, and Europe now routinely play video games. However, game designers have only recently started to consistently create gameplay choices for players with disabilities.
Since the release of God of War: Ragnarök, this has been a hot topic of conversation. The ninth instalment in the God of War series is pushing the boundaries of accessibility in big-budget, high-profile games and claims to be the most accessible one yet.
But what does "accessible" entail in terms of video games? Are the claims made about Ragnarok anything more than mere window dressing in an effort to stand out in a cutthroat industry?
