After a few slower summer months, August feels packed with new games and it should only get busier when the heat goes out and we move closer to the end of this year.
If starting a cult or building a criminal empire (or a college campus) is your thing, there’s a game for you this month. Sports fans have two reasons to get excited – EA Sports’ latest vision for the NFL comes Aug. 20, and a brand-new licensed series will hand over the reins of a Formula One team to you.
There are some good old games coming to new platforms, too. PC gamers will be treated to yet another PlayStation exclusive while ‘80s and ‘90s kids (and everyone else, really) will get some iconic turtle games and a classic Pac-Man remake.Hard West 2 is like XCOM but set in the American West. XCOM is like sci-fi chess, with turn-based combat where you need to carefully think about your every move.
In Hard West 2 you command a supernatural outlaw posse of four, fighting darkness with guns and magic. Central to the game is a Bravado system that rewards you with more actions in your turn as you rack up kills. Positioning and having the high ground is as important for combat as is taking risks in a game where every action counts.Two Point Campus is a business sim game much like its predecessor Two Point Hospital by the same eponymous developers. As you’ve probably guessed, in Two Point Campus you manage a series of university campuses, from building them all the way to attending to each individual student’s needs.
If playing God and shaping other people’s lives to bring out the best of them is your thing, you should definitely check this one out. Besides, we spoke with Two Point Campus creative director Gary Carr about how the game has taken the noble task of teaching us some much-needed empathy.

It’s been almost four years since Marvel’s Spider-Man originally released for the PS4 and finally PC gamers will get to play what is arguably the best Spidey video game of all time.
The PC port of the PS5 remaster arrives in all its ray-traced reflective glory – if your machine is up to the task, that is. The game will also support the PlayStation DualSense controller on PC, so you can get those adaptive triggers and haptic feedback if you want to.
If you own a PS4 or PS5 and haven’t played the game, its original version is now available with the new PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscriptions, together with the Spider-Man Miles Morales sequel.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is slated for an Aug. 12 PC release and has been out for PS5 for quite a while now with the original version also available on PS4.Stay tuned for updates.
