Apple's AI powered personal intelligence system, Apple Intelligence, has officially arrived in India. It brings with it a wave of smart features to iPhone ,Ipads and Macs.
With the latest updates IOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4—users can now tap into AI-enhanced writing tools, smarter photos, improved Siri, and more, all designed to make everyday tasks easier while keeping privacy in focus.
Here are some of the features now available in India:
Writing Tools: Apple Intelligence can rewrite, proofread, or summarise text across apps like Mail, Messages, Notes, and even third party apps. You can also customise your tone, making messages more professional, concise, or friendly.
Smarter Photos App: Ever taken a great photo only to have an unwanted object ruin it? The Clean Up tool lets you remove distractions while keeping the essence of the image intact. The Memories feature now lets you create photobased movies just by typing a description, with Apple Intelligence curating the perfect storyline.
Image Playground & Genmoji: Express yourself with AI-generated images in different styles (Animation, Illustration, Sketch), or create custom emojis (Genmoji) that look like your friends and family.
Call Recording, Transcription & Summaries: The Phone and Notes apps now let you record calls, transcribe them, and even generate AI-powered summaries—useful for meetings, interviews, or just remembering key details from a conversation.
Smarter Mail & Notifications: Priority Messages in Mail highlight urgent emails, and notification summaries on the Lock Screen make it easier to scan important updates without getting overwhelmed.
Sir with ChatGPT: Apple’s virtual assistant now understands context better, making conversations more natural and fluid. It can also tap into ChatGPT when needed without switching apps to help answer complex queries or generate content.
Visual Intelligence: Ever wondered what plant you’re looking at or needed to translate text instantly? Visual Intelligence helps with object recognition, text translation, and even event creation from details in a photo or flyer
Privacy-First AI: Unlike other AI models, Apple Intelligence prioritises on-device processing for most tasks, meaning data stays on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. When larger models are needed, Private Cloud Compute ensures data security by running AI models on Apple's own servers with no data retention.
How to download Apple Intelligence in India
To access Apple Intelligence, make sure your device is updated to the latest software:
- Go to Settings → General → Software Update and install iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, or macOS Sequoia 15.4.
- Once updated, Apple Intelligence models will start downloading on your device (make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi and a power source for the fastest download experience).
- If you’re using an earlier version that supports Apple Intelligence, head to Settings, select Apple Intelligence & Siri, then Turn on Apple Intelligence.
- For ChatGPT integration, go to Settings → Siri & Search and enable ChatGPT access (optional)
Apple Intelligence is available on iPhone 15 Pro models and later, as well as iPads and Macs with M-series chips.
