Online accommodation platform Airbnb on Saturday announced the opening of a new technology hub in Bengaluru to help it serve its ''global community''.
The Bengaluru technology hub will aim to create local, skilled jobs, with plans for the center to cater to a few hundred people in the initial phases, followed by an expanded footprint in the future, the company said in a statement.
For information technology services major Tech Mahindra, the second quarter of this fiscal has been the best in a decade. This was driven by deal wins and growth across key verticals, managing director and chief executive officer CP tells Rajesh in an interview. Gurnani said the company was banking on digital, and would be at the forefront to help clients transform legacy systems.
''India is an incredibly important market for Airbnb. The opening of this technology hub will further our ongoing investment in the nation and is testament to our long-term vision for growing our business locally into the future,'' Airbnb Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Nathan said.
He further said, ''The tech hub we're announcing today will bolster our ability to serve our global community, while also providing fresh opportunities for talented local engineers and tech specialists.''
Airbnb Chief Technology Officer said the new Bengaluru hub will enable the company to work with ''some of the brightest tech talent in India while allowing Airbnb to continue to evolve our technical foundations and build truly exceptional experiences for guests and hosts on the platform.''
The opening of this new technology hub will provide jobs and career growth for talented locals, while also contributing to the region's burgeoning reputation as a tech center of excellence, Airbnb General Manager for India, Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, Bajaj said.
The quarter has been a challenging but exciting one. We reported deal wins of about $750 million, so we expect a trajectory of similar deal wins in the future. We saw a significant acceleration in growth-led by 5G, with all key growth verticals, including, healthcare and life sciences and hi-tech continue to grow at a good pace. We have seen an overall increase in technology spending.
Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, will host its first-ever Career Day in India on September 16. This virtual and interactive event will bring together Amazon leadership and employees to share what makes Amazon an exciting workplace. The company would also showcase how it is steadfast in its commitment to help India unleash its true potential in the 21st century.
Amazon said it is currently hiring for more than 8000 direct job openings across 35 cities in the country, including cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Gurgaon, and Mumbai. The other cities include Kolkata, Noida, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Pune, and Surat. These job opportunities are spread across corporate, technology, customer service, and operations roles.
Career Day will feature some information session including a fireside chat with Amazon CEO, Andy Jassy, who will share his own career experience and advice for job-seekers.
This is an opportunity for them to understand Amazon better.
Besides India, Amazon is hosting the event for the first time in countries such as Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, UK, and Canada. From the past two years, Career Day has been hosted in the US. Looking at the response the event was receiving across different Amazon geographies, we decided that we will scale it up beyond the United States.
