Acne Treatment What Is Sebum

Sebum is a component of oily skin. Other oil ingredients on the skin - sweat, oils and natural impurities. It is sebum, which has a profound effect on our body odor. Sebum itself has no odor but its bacterial dispersal produces an odor. This is why if you keep your skin clean of germs with antiseptic soap regularly, you can reduce body odor significantly. Sebum reaches the hair follicles

and lubricates the hair and reaches the skin through the hair follicles. Most people have oily hair if the hair is left unwashed for a few days. That happens because of the sebum. Latin definition of sebum oil.

How sebum is produced - sebum is produced by sebaceous glands. These glands are found in many parts of the body. With the exception of a few glands, many sebaceous glands open up into the hair follicle. These are the areas of acne formation.

What makes sebum do-sebum protect the skin from infection. Sebum also reduces the loss of natural water on the skin. Increased sebum production can cause acne.

Sebum production- sebum production decreases with age. Especially for women it decreases after menstruation. Older women produce less sebum than men. Sebum production may be met with a bump during puberty in men.

There are common theories about sebum. Some people believe that drying excess sebum with blockade oil will reduce sebum production. Some believe that if you use products that should regulate oil production that will increase sebum production. Both incorrect conclusions. Drying excess oil will remove excess oil. And using oil control products will not increase sebum production. Sebum is needed to protect our skin, but increased sebum production leads to oily skin and acne.

Oral treatment

There are several types of oral treatment you can choose, including those listed below:

* Antibiotics (pills), such as tetracycline, can be prescribed for acne. They should be taken daily for up to three months, although it may take four to six months for the benefits to be realized.7 The effectiveness of this treatment may be limited because the bacterial species are usually not resistant to conventional antibiotics. Antibiotics do not prevent the pores from getting blocked so treatments to prevent blackheads, such as benzoyl peroxide, are usually given at the same time.

* other types of birth control pills that help women with acne. The combination of a common pill hormone called ethinylestradiol and cyproterone acetate (eg Dianette) suppresses the function of the male hormone and is therefore commonly used in women with acne.

* Isotretinoin (eg Roaccutane) is a drug known as oral retinoid, which is also present in the form of a topical (see above). Isotretinoin works by stopping fat secretions. It is usually given to people with severe forms of acne that appear to be resistant to other treatments. There are many side effects of this drug, such as liver failure and depression. You should not take isotretinoin if you are pregnant, as it is very dangerous for the unborn baby. For safety reasons, isotretinoin is prescribed only under the guidance of a dermatology specialist.
