Last month, we saw a set of unofficial mockups of what the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 could look like, but now we have leaked photographs of what appears to be the genuine gadget posted by YouTuber Tech Talk TV (via 9to5Google). The images are consistent with previous renders and provide a closer look at the device's display crease, which appears to be nearly non-existent. When the gadget is flipped open, you can notice a small glare where the crease would normally occur in one of the images.
From its first-generation Galaxy Z series devices to the current Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3, Samsung has seen enormous sales growth in the foldable market. However, these technologies must be developed and polished before they can reach their full potential.
Focusing on that, Samsung is rumored to be adding a quality of life feature to its upcoming foldable device which will make multitasking super convenient. According to a tweet by the tipster ice universe, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 will be getting the “swipe for split-screen” option. This feature will likely work similarly to OPPO, Vivo, and Honor foldable devices where the user will need to swipe their finger across the mid-seam of the device to activate the split-screen mode.
Aside from that, we get a look at the fingerprint sensor on the side as well as the hinge. The hinge design has been expected to be tweaked by Samsung, but there don't appear to be any changes when looking at the tablet from the side. When the Flip 4 is fully opened, however, the two parts appear to be much closer. In addition, the metal border is noticeably thinner.
It doesn't appear to be obvious, but it's difficult to predict how the crease will appear when viewed from only one angle. When you tilt the phone the right way, you can see the crease on the Galaxy Z Flip 3. "It's not a problem in everyday use," as The Verge's deputy editor Dan Seifert remarked in his review of the phone, and it's simple to forget about once you get used to it. Samsung is said to be improving the crease in its forthcoming phone, but we'll have to wait till we get our hands on one to see how noticeable it truly is. The leaked photographs of the rumored Galaxy Z Flip 4 reveal a smartphone that looks much like its predecessor, with a two-tone color scheme, dual cameras, and a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera, just like the mockups. While the hinge looks to be narrower, when the device is folded completely, there is still a small gap between the two sides. The smartphone is expected to include the same 12-megapixel primary and ultrawide cameras and a 10-megapixel selfie camera, according to Tech Talk TV's source, which is a bit disappointing if true – one of the Galaxy Z Flip 3's biggest flaws was its camera quality. According to the insider, the forthcoming smartphone would have a larger 3700mAh battery and a faster 25W charging capability.
In August, Samsung is expected to unveil both the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and its horizontally folding companion, the Z Fold 4.
