Insomnia is a common problem in today's time. Most of the youth are its victims. This problem is severe in India. According to researchers, insomnia is the cause of 86 percent of diseases in people. Generally, this disease is of two types short term and long-term. If this problem lasts for three weeks or less, then it is called a short-term problem, and if it is more than three weeks, it is called a long-term problem.

If you are also struggling with not sleeping through the night, then definitely try these home remedies and good sleep tips.

1. These Drinks Are Helpful In Sleep

By drink, we do not mean alcohol. Warm milk, chamomile tea, and cherry juice are better options before you go to sleep for good sleep. Warm milk contains a substance called the amino acid tryptophan, which is believed to stimulate sleep. This is the reason why it is advised to drink milk before sleeping for a good sleep. Chamomile tea contains flavonoids, which interact with benzodiazepine receptors in the brain to help with sleep. Chamomile tea does not contain caffeine like green tea. It works by disturbing your sleep. Apart from this, cherry juice increases the production of melatonin. Melatonin helps maintain the sleep cycle.

2. Exercise Is A Good Solution

You can also get better sleep by exercising. Aerobics releases feel-good chemicals called endorphins in the brain. You can also do yoga. Exercise 20 to 30 minutes daily. However, do not do any kind of exercise for 2 to 3 hours before going to bed. This will have the opposite effect on you.

3. Do Not Use Electronic Devices In Bed

After going to bed, many people turn to the phone, TV, or laptop.  Remove electronic devices from yourself an hour before bedtime. If your eyes are open at night, then you should use a flashlight instead of the phone.  Keep the room as dark as possible. Light tells our brain the time to wake up. If there is little light on the mobile or laptop in the room, it will hamper melatonin production.  Also, you will sleep.

4. Take A Warm Shower Before Sleeping

Taking a warm shower before going to bed helps get good sleep and remove the tiredness of the day. This is because the body temperature varies throughout the day. The brain depends on our body temperature for when to sleep and when to wake up. Our body temperature cools down a bit during the night, which tells the brain that it is time to make melatonin, a chemical that helps with sleep.  Body temperature is lowest in the morning, which prepares the body to wake up from sleep.

5. Take Special Care If Clothes

Choosing the right clothes while sleeping is also essential. To avoid any disturbance in sleep, wear comfortable clothes. If you sleep wearing clothes that stick to the body, it will make it difficult to sleep. Try to choose cotton clothes.

6. The Relationship Of Magnesium And Sleep

Magnesium and sleep are closely related.  If your body is deficient in magnesium, then you will not be able to sleep well.  Magnesium helps our body to relax and sleep well.  Green vegetables, pumpkin seeds, and almonds are good sources of magnesium.  If you are taking magnesium supplements, do consult your doctor at once.  Because you may be taking two other medicines, interact with them, which can also negatively affect health.

7. Diet If Healthy Snacks

Eat protein and carbohydrate-rich snacks for good sleep.  For this, if you want, you can take half a banana and a tablespoon of peanut butter.  Consuming it half an hour before bedtime will help you sleep better.

8. Make These Changes In Diet

Eliminate caffeinated things like coffee, tea, soft drinks, and chocolate from your diet.  Keep dinner as light as possible.  Avoid spicy and heavy food.  This can cause heartburn and indigestion.  Because of this, you will not even sleep.  Have dinner a few hours before bedtime.

Good sleep is essential for our health.  If you feel that you cannot get enough sleep or you are not sleeping well, you should resort to these easy home remedies, which will help you overcome this problem.
