Visitors to the Web often look for instant success online. They find a product that looks good. Then grab a site template, probably from a free hosting service. Suggest a site. Then go back and wait for the sale. And wait. And wait. They often criticize and complain about something like, "The web doesn't work."
Try this exercise:
Choose a good place in the park. Put an umbrella to sew a comfortable chair. In the table, set three televisions with the “For Sale” sign on top of all of them.
How long do you think it will take to sell them? Can you sell even one? Impossible. People can see at a glance that you may not be there tomorrow if something goes wrong. In fact, for all who know it, they can look for stolen goods.
Before starting any business, there are some questions that need to be answered. And the answers need to be positive. Your business will soon collapse due to errors in the foundation.
So give yourself plenty of time to think about and answer such questions as…
+ What kind of people do you like to be with?
+ What do they need to buy from you?
+ How will you give more than others?
A Perfect Foundation Needed
Finding the best answers to questions like these is not easy. On the other hand, there is not much work to be done. It’s a matter of exploring the Web and thinking about what you find.
Take your time in this. No speed. Either way, find the answers to these questions that are most relevant to you. Fix this, and you're on your way to success.
OK, but…
Why Are These Answers So Important?
You will spend more time with your customers, otherwise. As much as they love being with people, it will be a good time.
If your partner likes Fords and Chevies, don't sign up with the Roll Royce agency. You never know what you'll say to people with that kind of money.
If you’re someone who remembers a tree, and lives with like-minded people, you won’t go far trying to sell these body armor or fight guns. A better strategy might be to look for products that are environmentally friendly.
Okay, so I've got this. I know who I like to be with. So…
How Do I Get What They Need?
If you are looking for success online you will have to consider their shopping habits. Be careful what they buy often. Find out how to offer similar or better products.
Visit forums and newsgroups for your potential customers. Listen carefully. But ask questions.
If you are interested in back packing, ask which package is preferred? Then listen to the answers. And respond as much as possible. You can find people who like it, which is hard to find. Or something new on the market that will be a winner.
When approaching a product you want to represent, find people who are sensitive and ask what they think of an idea. You can collect a ton of good information from the right person at the expense of a cup of coffee.
All that's left is…
Find Out How to Give More
Somehow you need to stand out from other advertisers for the same products. Having a better product than others works well. Often, the better support alone does.
The key to online success on the Web lies in building trust. Providing great personal support, goes a long way in building customer loyalty and trust.
Outside: A multi-product site usually works better than selling just one product. Because it is difficult to find a visitor who will buy it. But for the most part, it is much easier to find a satisfied customer who is also buying another product. However you can add one product, and offer many related items.
Now, back to the basic questions,…
Who Really Is Your Perfect Customer?
This answer is very important. In everything you do or say, it is directed to the person.
The reason this works is that you can't satisfy everyone. So you describe one guess person who better represents your customers. Then direct everything to this person. By doing so, your message will ring true. Even those who do not agree with your explanation will see this fact.
It all depends on…
Defining Your Niche
You need a little piece of Web pie where you focus all your efforts. One where you can become an expert. Not so before opening your business. But in the end you want to be a leading professional or professional. Or at least one of the best.
You will want to look at other resources to find the answers that work for you. In these brief notes, the main points are highlighted.
About writing and copying
If your writing skills are not the first step, consider starting to hone them as you begin to search for answers. With the exception of articles and information that will be included on your site, everything is copyrighted, which makes words compelling your visitors to buy. Many find this to be a very difficult task of writing. And often the difference between a successful site and a failed site is at the copy level.
Finding ways to improve your writing skills is one of the most ongoing tasks all online business people face. Of course, you can hire this job. But wow, it's expensive. The best way is to strengthen any skills you have over time.
View copyright as a priority
There is no better place to start than to copy, because you will probably find this a great challenge. Joe Robson has a great free tutorial at <AdCopywriting.com>.
And she wrote a wonderful book, "Make Your Words Sell." Better than anyone I know, he understands the special needs of Web writing.
Back to the Course
The idea of strengthening your writing skills has little to do with answering basic questions. But it has much to do with building a successful site. So try this, as you begin to imagine what your business will be like. This lead time will prove invalueable.
For now, let’s assume you are working to improve your writing skills and that you have the answers you need.
Then it’s time consider how to …
