5 Most Important Tips - How To Start Blogging

How to start blogging? Need to start posting content on your blog but don't know where to start? This article tells you the most important steps to make your own blog and start blogging.

If you’re reading this article, I assume you’ve either started blogging recently or are interested in blogging. You may have read several articles about starting blogging, but the more you read about the topic, the more confused you are.

Blogging is a vast entity with several different sections. I wrote this post to dispel the confusion and help you take the right steps in the right order.

This post is not just about the technical side but the big picture of blogging. Once you know what to expect, getting started is definitely easier. Remember that even an elephant is eaten piece by piece. So the blog doesn’t have to be complete or complete before you can get started.

In this post, you will learn the 5 most important steps to getting started blogging, which are:

  1. Decide what, why, and how
  2. Choose a name for your blog
  3. Creating a blog [technical part]
  4. Install a few required add-ons
  5. Write and publish the first post

1 | Decide What, Why, And How:

The truth is that blogging today looks very different from what it was 30 years ago. Blogs began to come to the general public's attention about 15 years ago when ordinary consumers, young women, began writing about their own lives, daily lives, dreams, and challenges.

It was refreshing when I no longer had to listen to the neighbor’s gossip when he could go online and read about the family's daily life in the neighboring town.

From that, blogs have evolved further. Blogs are divided into four sections:

Diary-like Blogging

Expert Blogging

Influencing Opinion

Business Blogging

For today’s part, I’ll discuss how Expert And Business Blogging can increase revenue. Of course, many journalists and hobby bloggers get help and support from my article on their own journey.

So that blogging gets the best possible starting point:

Try to find a “bigger excuse” to start posting content on your blog. Through your passion, you will produce content for your blog even when obstacles or challenges arise. Take a moment now to consider these questions.

  • Why do you want to start blogging?
  • Where do you want to write on your blog?
  • Why is your post (i.e., the content you write) important for people to read?
  • What is the goal of blogging, what do you want to achieve with it?
  • How much are you willing to invest money and time in blogging and blog development?
  • What kind of encouraging words do you want to give yourself (as a motivation for the future)?
  •

2 | For Your Blog - A Catchy Name Important:

The name of the blog has the potential to either help or hinder your success. It's a good idea to take some time to choose a blog name. I know choosing a name can seem easy, just by choosing someone's nice name!

But the truth is, the name of a blog really affects many different things, like

  • domain, which is the home address of the blog
  • to the image of the content of the blog
  • to get readers
  • and even making money

3 | Blog Technical Construction:

I have been working with Bluehost since 2020. Bluehost is the cheapest (*) and the most reliable alternative to creating a WordPress.org blog on the market. If you want to make an internationally known .com terminated blog, then Bluehost is a great option.

I know this step scares people the most. But with the right partners (Bluehost), this step has really been quickly reversed.

I recommend this partner because all the technical work is done for you. The company does the hardest work. All you have to do is register for their service, after which you will get IDs for them on your blog. That's all.

4 | Install A Few Important Add-On:

I really like the WordPress.org platform because I can edit, develop, and build a unique blog. I will now introduce you to a few important add-ons that are worth introducing right from the start.

There is always a free and paid version of add-ons. With the free versions, you get started very well. I don’t seem to have any paid add-ons myself, excluding add-ons related to e-commerce and the course platform.

5 | Write And Publish The First Posts:

A well-organized and structured blog is the key to success. Both blog content and blog posts have their own structures in particular. So you shouldn't write anything on your blog.

The whole structure of the blog is worth starting with categories. I recommend having a maximum of five at the beginning, but you can get off to a good start with one.

Think of categories like the main chapters of a book. Their job is to tell both the reader and Google what you’re writing on your blog.

Start thinking about categories through your topic, that is, where you write. Below is one example of outlining categories.

Blog topic:

raising a dog from a puppy up to 3 years of age

Categories:

dog acquisition

dog health

dog feeding

dog training

When writing a blog for a longer period of time, you may want to divide the main categories into smaller subcategories so that you can divide them into the following, for example:

Main Category: Dog Acquisition

Subcategories:

getting a dog from a breeder

acquisition of a dog from a shelter

acquisition of an adult dog

As you can see, a blog structured in this way also helps the reader better understand what the blog is about. It will also make it easier for you as you think about future blog posts.
