You’ve probably heard that the only way to succeed in life is through hard work and motivation, but sometimes you need something more than good intentions to reach your goals.
That’s where tigers come in! Tigers are known to possess some of the most ferocious instincts in the animal kingdom, which may seem intimidating at first, but their character traits can also be applied to make you much more successful. These four lessons from tigers can help you reach your goals and be motivated throughout your journey.
1. Set clear goals,
Tigers are one of nature’s biggest predators. As such, it makes sense that their survival strategies can teach us a thing or two about setting goals. They plan and prepare for each hunt with a deliberate, step-by-step purpose, ensuring that everyone meets their exact specifications.
Without clearly defined prey — and a strategy to catch it — they simply won’t eat. This is a valuable lesson to consider when planning your success as well; if you don’t set clear goals, how can you measure and prove your progress? If you don’t know where you want to go, how will you get there?
Your success will depend on your ability to set clear goals and take small, manageable steps in your day-to-day life. Only then can you achieve that long-term goal: hunting down your next meal. A tiger never loses sight of its ultimate objective; neither should you.
The first lesson tigers can teach you about success is that setting and achieving goals is extremely important. If you want to be successful, you need to focus on what success looks like for you and then make it happen.
Having a target to shoot for will help keep your motivation high, especially during tough times or when things aren’t moving along quite as fast as you hoped they would.
2. Work hard on your goals until you achieve them,
tigers work hard to catch their prey. When they’re hungry, they can sleep as little as two hours a day. In order to do that, they must make sure their goals are clear and that they understand exactly what it takes to succeed.
To be successful at work, or in your personal life, ask yourself: What does it take for me to get where I want to go?
What sacrifices will I have to make along the way? And am I willing enough to endure those obstacles? If you can answer these questions — and then follow through — you might find yourself on top of your game one day.
Studies have shown that zoo animals, like tigers, can actually help humans cope with their own stress and anxiety. If you’re struggling to find your inner peace, visiting a zoo may just do the trick. Here are four important lessons tigers can teach you about success.
A tiger never gives up. Their perseverance is legendary, which makes them worthy of admiration. Don’t give up when you face obstacles: although it may seem like a steep uphill battle, think about how happy you will be once you get to where you want to be.
Don’t let your failures defeat you: failure is an opportunity for growth and improvement. If that baby tiger fails his first hunt at two months old, he will probably starve if he doesn’t try again — and again and again.
It takes practice to achieve anything in life; persistence through mistakes is an important lesson tiger can teach us all.
3. Live at the moment
One of my favorite quotes about being present comes from Mike Yang, founder of Project 333 and author of It’s All Too Much. It’s not about what you have or don’t have. It’s about how you feel when you wake up in your own bed in your own home and put on clothes that fit properly and run outside to greet a new day.
That is wealth. We feel rich when we are happy; joy is our currency. Because tigers are hunters and their prey can move very quickly, they’ve developed an incredibly keen awareness of their surroundings.
Their heightened senses give them a significant advantage over other predators, and you can use some of those lessons to your own advantage.
Whether it’s driving or walking to work, remember that everyone around you is a potential threat, and stay alert in your surroundings. Picking up on cues from others gives you an edge in any situation.
One way to maintain a sense of presence is by practicing mindfulness — taking a moment to step back and appreciate your surroundings. Recent research has even found that taking in new information while remaining mindful helps you retain more of it (6).
Doing so allows you to make better decisions, increases your attention span, and keeps your mind sharp. All these benefits are essential for success. Imagine how well a tiger that’s always looking for its next meal would do in school!
A tiger spends all day seeking food; if it didn’t have enough concentration to pay attention during class, it wouldn’t succeed as well as it could have.
So remember: Remain present in each moment and enjoy what you already have. It’ll help you move forward and achieve more of what matters most to you!
4. Enjoy every second of life
When we see tigers on television, their circumstances are so different from our own. But what is also true is that they are predators. They’ve mastered their environment, and they live comfortably, as they’re supposed to, in their natural habitats.
We can learn a lot from them: To enjoy every second of life, embrace your accomplishments, and most importantly, be grateful for all you have! Be grateful to be alive and don’t take anything for granted!
It’s all too easy to feel like your small role in life is unimportant, but at the end of it all, we’re no less important than any tiger!
At least not in terms of having an important role to play! Make yourself be grateful to be alive with these four lessons from one of nature’s great animals: The Tiger!
While tigers spend most of their time hunting and eating, they still enjoy every second of life. They don’t miss a thing. When they kill their prey, they savor it thoroughly. And when they sleep, they know only pleasure and relaxation.
No worries or pain can find them there. If you want to achieve success in your own life, start by enjoying each moment as if it were your last…because one day it will be!
It’s easy to enjoy your life when you’re content and things are going smoothly, but one of my favorite things about tigers is that they always enjoy every second of their day. There are no bad days when you’re a tiger! Remember: Life is really an interwoven series of good and bad moments. Learn how to savor all of them!
