The central government has given about 20 thousand crore rupees to compensate the families of people who lost their lives due to corona.
Many families in India lost their family members in this pandemic. Some lose their father, who was the main earner in their house, to give some small amount of help in the form of compensation.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has submitted a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs, in which the country has told how much funds will remain with it for the next five years.
In fact, the Supreme Court had ordered the Central Government that compensation should be given on the deaths. Before this petition, the central government had launched the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) as early as 30.03.2020. Under the scheme, a comprehensive personal accident cover of Rs. 50 Lakh has been provided to 22.12 Lakh Health Care Providers throughout the country, including community health workers and private health workers who may have been in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and may be at risk of being impacted/infected by this. It is submitted that further on account of the unprecedented situation, private hospital staff/retired/volunteer/local urban bodies/contract/daily wage/ad-hoc/outsourced staff.
Requisitioned by states/central hospitals/autonomous hospitals of central/states/UTs, AIIMS & Institute of National Importance(INI)s/hospitals of Central Ministries specifically drafted for the care of COVID-19 patients were also covered under the scheme. The benefits under the said scheme have been extended for 180 days (w.e.f.24.04.2021). The scheme is being implemented through an insurance policy
of the New India Assurance Company. To further expedite the processing of claims, a new system has been introduced. The claims are now being processed by the District Collectors and forwarded to
the insurance company to release funds to the claimants. So far, 442.4 ₹crore have been released to the insurance company in this regard.

procedure/guidelines are/are required to be issued by the Central Government
and/or appropriate authority for issuance of an official document/death

How much will be the compensation amount? How will it be given? This same court asked the government and told them to give the solution within six weeks.
After this order, the Central Government has prepared a compensation package.
So far, 4.30 lakh deaths have been registered due to corona in the country.
The government has made a provision of funds according to 5 lakh deaths.
From the sources, it is found that about 4 Lakhs rupees are given to every death.
This amount of compensation was fixed in 2014.
However, there may be a change in the amount may be in the future.
For those who had insurance of more than 5 Lakhs, it is possible that they may not get compensation.
The NDMA told the Ministry of Home Affairs that compensation should be uniformly provided to the people.
Prime minister Narendra Modi will announce the compensation for deaths on August 15 from the Red Fort.
