Toxic kidney situation occurs when sudden reduction in the normal functioning of our kidneys and there is a complete imbalance in the functioning of the kidneys. Our normal functioning of the kidneys is known to you. Kidneys filter the blood in our body and expel toxins in our body and retain the substance essential for the body. This is the normal functions of kidneys. But when there is an imbalance in the functioning of the kidneys, this works in the opposite way. That is, essential substances in our body are filtered out by the kidneys and the toxic substances stay deposited in the body, this is how the condition of the excess toxic depositions in the body occurs over a few days. Often you know, in the blood test of people with improper kidney functions, the creatinine and urea will be increased. Urea is a toxic byproduct that is usually excreted out of the body, this urea appears to be increasing in the blood. In this way, a toxic kidney is formed due to the imbalance in kidney functioning.
The toxic kidney shows major signs. These signs may be categorized into two. One, the early signs that occurs initially when the kidneys begin in malfunction, the later signs are those that occurs when the condition is advanced and more toxins are deposited in the body.
The first sign seen in the initial stages is a metallic taste in the mouth, whatever we eat, we feel like a metal was in the mouth.
The second sign is the smell of ammonia when we breath out or speak. As you know, ammonia has a strong pungent odor. Often when we pass by a public toilet, the strong odor that we experience there, it is the smell of ammonia. Often this strong, smell of ammonia may be felt from our mouth and nose, this is an early sign of toxic kidney. One, the early signs that occurs initially when the kidneys begin in malfunction, the later signs are those that occurs when the condition is advanced and more toxins are deposited in the body.
The third sign is the swelling in the feet. It is not the swelling in any one foot, it is the swelling seen in both feet. Usually, the swelling in feet may be of two kinds, the pitting edema and non pitting edema. Pitting edema is when we press the swelling with a finger, the swelling dips in, and it returns to the swollen state in three to four seconds, this is called pitting edema. Usually when the water seen in our body accumulates between the tissues, there is a depression in the swelling on pressing as when we stamp in clay, this is called pitting edema. Usually pitting edema is a sign of improper functioning of the kidneys. The non pitting edema in legs is seen usually in varicosity or in filariasis. In those conditions, the pressure with fingers does not depress the swelling .
The fourth sign is a swelling below the eyes. The face might have puffiness and there may be swelling below the eyes. People with allergic diseases, other complaints also may have swelling. So just because of the swelling, we need not assume that it is a sign of kidney damage. In most time the swelling below the eyes is seen along with the other signs that I mentioned, we need to doubt a kidney disease.
Fifth sign is a frothy urine. When the proteins are filtered out in excess by the kidneys, the urine becomes frothy. The excretion of albumin through the urine. The fluid portion of blood is the protein. When the proteins are filtered out in excess by the kidneys, there is froth in the urine, which is the presence of albumin. This too is a sign of kidney disease.
Now, the signs that going to mention are those that occur when the kidney diseases are advanced.
The sixth sign is the regions that sweat a lot in our body like forehead, cheeks, side of neck, would have white salty powder sticking when the sweat is evaporated, this is called uremic frost. That is when the kidney function is improper, urea is increased in blood. The increased urea in blood is excreted through the sweat. When the sweat evaporates after some time, the urea sticks to the regions where we have excessive sweat. So this is uremic frost. Many people who have several kidney diseases and are yet to start dialysis may have increased concentration of urea in blood, and they show this sign when they sweat.
The seventh sign is a very high blood pressure, this can occur in two: , On the improper functioning of kidneys, leads to improper control of blood pressure. As you know, kidneys have a very important part in controlling the blood pressure. So, with improper kidney function, the B.P is found to be increased excessively. The second reason is with the increased toxins in the blood, the heart has difficulty in pumping the blood, this also leads to increased blood pressure in the later stages of kidney disease.
The eighth sign is the excessive palpitation that occurs with climbing stairs or walking. This may be due to several reasons. One is that the increased blood pressure, leading to palpitation on walking or climbing stairs. Second is the increased amount of toxins like urea and ammonia in blood, cause distress to the heart and lungs, and we get excessive palpitation, shortness of breath and discomfort from slight exertion due to walking or climbing. Another reason is, with improper kidney functions, our hemoglobin may gradually reduce. When we do our blood test, we find hemoglobin to be less than 10 or 8, this too leads to excessive palpitation from slight straining.
The ninth sign is the excessive density of urine. This means the urine output won't be in proportion to the water you drink. The urine passed will be strong and hazy. If we collect this urine in a clear glass, the urine will be dark and concentrated, this too is a sign of advanced kidney disease. The tenth sign is called 'Ketoacidosis'. When there is increase in toxins in blood, it shows a variety of signs, one is the inability to concentrate, headache, dizziness, and confusion, Speaking unrelated things when asked about something, we may feel like the patient is losing consciousness or having loss of memory, nausea, vomiting, the smell from mouth on talking as mentioned before, and also excessive stomach ache, pain in the lower back, palpitation on even walking a short distance, body ache, excessive weakness, these are the signs of 'Ketoacidosis'. That is, the pH of blood is slightly acidic, but in the condition of 'Ketoacidosis' the ketone bodies like acetone in our blood increase excessively and the pH becomes excessively acidic. The body is unable to manage a high acidic pH of blood, this leads to the above-mentioned signs.
The 10 signs that have mentioned now are seen in toxic kidney, where the kidney functions are imbalanced and a toxic environment is created in the body. It is good if this information is known to everyone because, in a situation of increasing kidney patients, there are many who may have such signs but, they detect the kidney diseases in very late stages and the treatment itself becomes difficult in those stages. So if Pearson are aware about the above-mentioned signs: , often people know of the kidney disease only when it is advanced due to uncontrollable diabetes or high blood pressure, these people can identify the kidney disease in the initial stages.
