10 players who can bring India medal in Tokyo Olympics

According to Gracenote, the world's largest data and technology company, India is likely to win 19 medals, four of which are gold.

India has won 2 medals at the last Olympics - one bronze and one silver, so expecting that India would be winning more than 20 medals would be unrealistic. Still, in this year's Olympics, we can definitely hope to be better than the last Olympics.

So the below listed 10 players are most likely to bag medals for India at the Tokyo Olympics.

SAURABH CHAUDHARY (SHOOTING)

The world no. 2 coming from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, is undoubtedly India's greatest chance of a gold medal finish. Saurabh Chaudhary astonished the world by winning gold in the 10m air pistol men's competitions at the world cup games in Delhi and Munich 2019.

In 2019 he was the only person in the world to hold both the junior and senior world records. Saurabh has won medals in the ISSF world cup, ISSF world championships, Youth Olympic Games, and Asian Games by the age of 18, accumulating a total of 12 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

Saurabh Chaudhary defeated legendary Japanese shooter Tomoyuki Matsuda at the 2018 Asian games, setting up one of his first big records.

He has won 8 gold medals in the world championships. He already has every big medal that there is; now, the only thing left is the Olympics medal, and we hope that he can go all the way in the Tokyo Olympics this time.

MANU BHAKER (SHOOTING)

Coming from Haryana, she doesn't need to be introduced. Manu Bhaker has been the face of Indian shooting for several years and is still as deadly as ever, with a natural talent for the sport that she inherited at a young age.

She has the 'eye of the tiger,' and she has broken countless records in her brief career. She earned her first major prize in the Asian junior championship in 2017. She went on to win silver in the 10m Air pistol event.

Later in that same year, she went on to win nine medals at the national games, breaking Heena Sidhu's record of 242.3 points (along with beating her in the same event).

She is currently ranked no. 2 in the world rankings. She is the second-youngest Indian to win a commonwealth games gold medal and the youngest Indian to earn an ISSF world cup gold medal.

She also set new Commonwealth Games records with 240.9 points and a junior world record of 244.7 in the ISSF World Cup in China in 2019.

She is expected to win in 10m air pistol and mixed doubles; we hope that she can make India Proud.

PV SINDHU (BADMINTON)

PV Sindhu will lead India's badminton pack at the Tokyo Olympics. The majority of the attention will be on the lanky shuttler from Hyderabad, who will be seeded sixth and yearning for a second Olympic medal, and most importantly, gleaming gold, at the Tokyo Olympics.

PV Sindhu, 2016 Olympic silver medalist, hasn't been at her best recently. The 26-year-old will compete in the Tokyo Olympics as the sixth seed in women's singles and will face stiff competition from Tai Tzu Ying, Chen Yu Fei, Naomi Okuhara, And Akane Yamaguchi if she wants to bring home a second Olympic medal.

MARY KOM (BOXING)

Mary Kom is a legend in women's boxing and doesn't need any introduction. She is the only Indian Women Boxer to win an Olympic Medal.

The 38-year-old will be attempting to upgrade her Olympic medal from bronze to gold when she competes in Tokyo.

She will enter the Olympics as the world number 7 in the women's 51 kg weight class, making her a clear underdog in the Tokyo Olympics.

If she wins a medal at the Tokyo Olympics(which we hope she will), she will become the only Indian woman to have won 2 Olympic Medals.

MIRABAI CHANU (WEIGHTLIFTING)

If we have to say that one medal will surely come to India, it has to be by Mirabai Chanu. She is currently ranked number 2 and is a strong contender for a podium finish at the Tokyo Olympics.

She will compete in the women's 49 kg weight division and is India's most likely medalist at the Tokyo Olympics.

Weightlifting has always been one of the easiest sport to predict the winners in, and the 26-year-old India's finest lift of 205kg is only topped by China's Hou Zhihui, so a podium finish in Tokyo should be a piece of cake for her.

Vinesh Phogat (WRESTLING)

Vinesh Phogat will be ranked number 1 globally, heading into the Tokyo Olympics, having qualified for her second Olympics.

This season, the 26-year-old has been in outstanding form, earning gold medals in all of the tournaments in which she has competed.

Vinesh will also be the top seed in the women's 53kg weight division in the Olympics, which could aid her in getting some favorable draws in early rounds.

BAJRANG PUNIA (WRESTLING)

Bajrang Punia has been the unquestioned champion of Indian wrestling for the past few years.

He has spent much of his early career shadowed by Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt, which appears to have peaked at the appropriate time.

In the men's 65kg weight group, Bajrang Punia, competing in his first Olympics, will be seeded second.

NEERAJ CHOPRA (ATHLETICS)

India has never won an Olympic medal in Athletics, and Neeraj Chopra is the country's best bet to do so in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

In January of last year, the 23-year-old has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics by throwing the javelin 88.07 meters.

Chopra will surely be a dark horse coming into the race, even though his distance may not be enough for him to finish on the podium in Tokyo.

AMIT PANGHAL(BOXING)

Amit Panghal is a fiery boxer from Haryana and is currently number 1 in the world. He has been putting on some really steady performances lately and is a strong contender for the podium finish in Tokyo.

Nine Indian Boxers have qualified for the Olympics in Tokyo. Still, only Amit Panghal will compete as the world's number 1.He has reached the finals of the world championships and is now looking all the way to Tokyo Olympics 2020.

DEEPIKA KUMARI (ARCHERY)

Deepika Kumari earned three gold medals in a single day at World Cup 3 in Paris last month. She's been in fantastic form this year, earning 2 gold medals at the Archery world cup on her own.

The achievement has ensured that the 27-year-old veteran will compete in the Olympics as the best female archer in the world.

However, her path to the podium will not be easy, as she will be up against some stiff competition from South Korean and Mexican archers.

Deepika has a history of faltering at the Olympics, and she would have to be at the top of her game to have a chance of returning from Tokyo with a medal.
