1: Hsieh  

The man's surname in question is Hsieh, who died of cardiac arrest after 3 days of only playing video games in an internet café in the city of Kaohsiung. The man was unemployed, so he had nothing better to do than engage in very intense video game sessions.  

At first, the internet café staff was used to him being around, playing for long periods of time, but when he died, it took the staff a couple of hours to notice that he was dead, thinking that he was just sleeping.   

“The man had a small struggle for about 15 minutes before he collapsed motionlessly, the CCTV footage from the internet café showed,” said Jennifer Wu, a police spokeswoman from the Hunei district precinct, according to mybroadband.co.za  

2. Zhang  

A 26-year-old Chinese man called Zhang died of heart failure while playing World of Warcraft. The man got some time off from the Lunar New Year holiday and decided to use his free time to push himself to the limits while playing this game. During that time, he had become overweight and suffered from multiple health issues.  

Sadly, Zhang was found dead by the Chinese paramedics. They tried everything to bring him back to life, but their efforts were in vain. Zhang's heart has given its last beat. It had been claimed that Zhang had died because of his weight, poor blood circulation, and oxygen deprivation, according to thegamer.com  

3. Jeff Dailey  

High school student Jeff Dailey fell in love with the game called Berserk. His deep love of Berserk made him become addicted to the game. His favorite place was the Illinois Arcade, where he played the game. He had made it in the top ten two times in fifteen minutes. As he was trying to enter his name, he collapsed and died of a heart attack.  

His friend, Peter Burkowski, was pretty affected by his death, and to commemorate his passing, he got himself into the game as well. He died the same way Jeff died. He died of cardiac arrest when trying to put his name on the list.  

4: Anna-Lee Kehoe  

Anna-Lee Kehoe was a young gamer girl that was suffering from asthma. She usually spent her free time playing on her Xbox 360. One day, Anna was so focused on her Xbox game, that she didn't notice that her symptoms were getting worse and worse.   

After taking a break, Anna yelled to her mother that she couldn't breathe and collapsed to the floor. Her mother immediately ran to grab the phone to call the paramedics. She had suffered from a heart attack that was so severe, which was claimed that it managed to shut down the left part of her brain. The doctors put her on life support, but her parents took the decision to unplug her from life support because she wasn't getting any better, thus passing away.  

5: Lee Seung Seop  

Lee Seung Seop was known for being a gaming addict. Even though he loved playing games so much, he also lived a normal life. He worked as a repairman and had a girlfriend who shared the same interests, including a passion for video games.   

With time, Lee's addiction became worse and worse. He played games until late in the night and was often late for work because he wasn’t able to wake up from his intense gaming sessions, which made his boss fire him. He eventually broke up with his girlfriend and lived a life all by himself, along with his addiction to games.  

One day, Lee entered an internet café to play StarCraft, another game known for its addictive powers, along with World of Warcraft. He played StarCraft for approximately 50 hours, while only having bathroom breaks. He barely ate, drank, or slept and these were the causes of his unconsciousness. When his friends found him, they rushed him to the hospital as soon as they possibly could and they solely promised him that they will finish the game for him. He later died of heart failure, being caused by exhaustion and dehydration.  

6. Cheng Rong-yu  

Another Asian man called Cheng Rong-yu has fallen victim to one of the most addictive games ever known by gamers and that is League of Legends. It is pretty common for Asians to visit an internet cafe and spend all their time playing until their heart gives its last beat.   

The same thing happened to this Asian guy, who decided to spend 23 hours playing League of Legends until he later died of a heart attack. It is claimed that fatigue, little movement, and cold temperatures were the main causes of his death, along with a preexisting heart condition.  

What is even more concerning is when the police have found him dead. His soulless body was sitting on his chair with his hands stretching for the mouse and keyboard.   

7. Tim Eves  

The gamers we have been writing about have died in an internet café, in front of the computer screen, with their hands stretched for the mouse and keyboard. What if I tell you that a guy, called Tim Eves, had died because of Wii Fit. You might think that this can’t be possible since the game is mostly based on motion control and you being active, but it sadly happened.  

Tim Eves was a young adult who mostly engaged himself in sports and after a few hours from his return from the trip to Portugal, he decided to play Wii Fit for a couple of hours. He was jogging in place on the Wii Fit balance board while his girlfriend was watching him. Suddenly, he collapsed to the floor. It turned out that he got killed by Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome, which is a heart disease, which makes the heart stop pumping blood to the brain.  

8. Brian Vigneault  

Brian Vigneault was a father of three and a Twitch streamer who used to go live and play for hours for charity. In his last ever live stream, he decided to play World of Tanks and raise funds for the Make-a-Wish charity. After a while, his friends and viewers on his live stream have noticed that he was feeling a bit under the weather and advised him to take a break. He didn’t listen and continued playing as if nothing had ever happened.   

After 22 hours of constant playing, Brian wanted to go outside and have a cigarette break. Moments later, his viewers noticed that he wasn’t coming back and started to get worried. What actually happened is that Vigneault had died of a heart attack.   

After hours of inactivity, a moderator decided to message him on discord to check up on him and the response he got shook him. A detective from Virginia Beach had responded to him and told him that Brian had sadly passed away.  

9. Rustam 

Rustam was a 17-year-old teenager who happened to have his leg broken. To not get bored while waiting for his leg to heal, Rustam decided to play Defence of the Ancients, also known as DOTA. While he was drowning his sorrows over his broken leg, his addiction to the game grew more and more with each passing day, until he decided to go all-in. He managed to play for a whopping 22 days nonstop, without eating, drinking, and taking bathroom breaks.   

When his parents came back home on the day of his passing, they didn’t hear their son playing his game, as usual. They immediately rushed to his room to find him dead. They had called the paramedics, but their efforts of bringing him back to life were in vain. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. His death was caused by Deep Vein Thrombosis, which was also caused by sitting in one position for hours on end.  

10. Chris Staniforth  

Chris Staniforth loved playing Halo online. He usually spent up to twelve hours playing this game on his Xbox. Slowly, he started to develop chest pains, but Chris didn’t put too much thought onto it. He was advised to see a doctor, but he didn’t listen.   

Just like Rustam that we have written about earlier, Chris had developed Deep Vein Thrombosis from sitting in one place for too long and after that, he started to suffer from a blood clot in his lungs called pulmonary embolism, which ended his life. His father, David, didn’t put the blame on the game for what had happened, but he used his son’s death as an example of the dangers of binge gaming.
