Top 10 Foods That Can Affect Your Health

A balanced diet includes all kinds of food, but eating less nutritious food can harm your health. Adopting a balanced diet and especially adopting healthy habits in eating and drinking is certainly very helpful in maintaining an ideal weight and good health. However, even "healthy" foods can have negative effects if consumed at the wrong time. Nutritionists related to health issues have said that it is very important to know the appropriate timings for eating different types of foods. Experts have warned 10 things not to eat at their right time. 10 low-nutrient foods that can affect your health.

 1.   White bread

White bread is made from a type of bread flour that is processed from wheat. Processing removes the bran and germ, the parts of the wheat kernel. Whole wheat is usually darker, due to the fact that it contains more nutrients and more fiber. Both of these aspects are great for your digestion and provide your body with the nutrients it needs. White bread has a milder flavor but is made only from the endosperm layer of the wheat kernel and has less nutritional value. Instead, choose whole-grain bread that's loaded with essential nutrients.

 2.    Potato Chips

One of the reasons why eating too many chips can be harmful is that the amount of oil and simple carbohydrates they contain makes them high in calories, but they aren't packed with beneficial nutrients like vitamins. Chips with no preservatives are a good option for an occasional tasty treat, but eating nothing but chips for a meal will fill your body with more vitamins, protein, and fiber.

 3.  French fries

French fries contain many of the same nutrients as chips, although French fries contain more of the actual potato. However, the crispiness of French fries is not due to deep fat, which contains a lot of oil. In the air fryer, a thin drizzle of oil (or zero oil) can still get you a homemade, low-salt batch of French fries made primarily from potatoes. If you already have enough oil in your diet, this can be a good way to get your daily crispy treat.

 4.   Fried chicken

Chicken is a delicious lean protein, but fried chicken bread contains a ton of white flour, oil, and salt. Of course, all three ingredients are fine in moderation, but choosing grilled chicken or air-fried chicken can help you cut down on unhealthy ingredients if you're already getting more than the recommended amount.

5.   Processed meat

In general, processed meats contain very few nutrients, which, when consumed in excess, are associated with negative medical outcomes. Meat processing sometimes involves the addition of nitrites and nitrites, which have been linked to an increased risk of cancer when eaten out of moderation. Also, sodium is built into a lot of processed meats. Whenever possible, cook and eat fresh meat.

 6.  Sugary cereals

Like candy, sugary cereals are often high in simple carbohydrates and sugars compared to low amounts of protein, fiber, and vitamins. As a breakfast option, sweet cereal can also result in a blood sugar crash that makes you feel hungry soon after eating the cereal. Choosing low-sugar cereals that are high in protein and fiber, as well as plant-based or dairy milks, can help you feel fuller and more energetic for longer.

 7.   Margarine

Margarine was replaced when the saturated fat in butter was seen as negative for our health. However, margarine is different: in some countries, they contain harmful trans fats that the body doesn't easily process, and in many cases they contain the same amount of processed saturated fat. Read the label or choose a less processed oil, such as olive oil, as a bread topper if you really want to cut butter from your diet.

 8.  Frozen goods

Not all frozen entrees are created equal -- flash frozen vegetables and cooked chicken, for example, are sometimes low in preservatives and are a great way to eat if you need a convenience meal. However, for prepackaged foods, check what foods and other ingredients are included in your meal, especially if you're concerned about preservatives or coloring in your food.

 9.  Cheese

Although some prominent brands of mac and cheese have been found to be high in harmful chemicals, a major reason they are considered unhealthy is their high content of simple carbohydrates and fat and low nutritional value. If you love cheesy pasta, however, don't despair: There are now a variety of versions that include either whole grains, vegetables like cabbage, and preservatives and lower levels of fat.

 10.  Baked goods

Cakes, donuts, and other baked goods can be delicious. Unfortunately, they can be loaded with simple carbohydrates and saturated fat. They also contain very little fiber, protein or vitamins. If you make your own baked goods, however, it's easy to create treats that provide more nutrition, whether it's by substituting wheat flour, substituting unsaturated fats for butter, or adding fruit or diced zucchini for vitamins.
