10 EFFECTIVE METHODS TO STUDY BETTER

Ever get stuck while studying? Did it ever happen to you that you found yourself elsewhere while the book is just in front of you? Worry not! This is a common phenomenon happening to every student or reader. There is a lot of ongoing study pressure, and you cannot concentrate at all. Here we bring to you the 10 most effective and unique methods to study in a better way.

1. I dare you can't do that!:

It’s a common reading that dares and challenges are connected to ego and ego is a massive emotion that leads us to paths we never imagine existed. So, why not connect your studies to emotions. While you sit to study regularly or you have an exam, write on a paper that you have to complete one chapter in one sitting and that’s a dare! You’ll see yourself completing that chapter in no time.

2. Give me gift in return and I'll push mountains:

Many scientific experiments have been done on the reward system and it is proven that we function better in the hope for a reward big or small doesn’t matter. So how about if I complete one chapter in 2 hours I’ll be watching an episode of my favorite series, or I’ll have a bowl of ice cream, or I’ll have a walk down the street for some fresh air. This way helps us to feel that our effort is going to bore some fruit on a short-term basis and gives a purpose to that 2 or 3 hours of sitting down.

3. Oh I have read it somewhere?

So, you have 5 chapters to do and you have a test of those 5 chapters in a week. How about you do 1 chapter each day and revise the whole syllabus in the last two days before the test. The spaced revision method breaks the monotony and helps us to memorize better.

It is scientifically proven that whatever we read for the first time shifts to our short-term memory and to convert all the required information from short-term to long-term memory repetition is the key. So, if we read a chapter again and again with a distance of 2 to 3 days it will go nowhere.

4. It is stagnant to just sit:

Change of position is one of the best methods to focus better.

What if you are not able to sit and study, what to do then? The answer is simple stand up take your book start walking and reading, don’t want to walk? Go to the living room or the other room sit there for some time and study. The monotony of the text that we are reading can go away with the change in the environment.

5. I definitely deserve a break :

Well, it’s good to set a challenge but there is another study that says that our focus is on peak levels for 25 minutes. after that, it all starts going downhill. So, it’s much better to sit with high performance than to study and reach now where. For this, the Pomodoro technique has proven to be one of the best. Set a timer for 25 minutes and then take a 5-to-10-minute break. If you feel that 25 minutes are too less to complete the assigned topic then set a timer for 45 minutes and take a 15-minute break after that. In this way, you will be completing a cycle of 1 hour and be back to square one. But remember for this technique to work well self-control is the key.

6. Art Is the spice of life:

We as human beings are more attracted to colorful images and symmetries as we are the beings of mother nature. So, why not turn your boring lectures into art? Wouldn’t that be interesting?

So, make your notes using different colored markers, and rewrite the text of chapters in the form of flow charts and interesting diagrams.

7. Mnemonics technique:

Say I have to learn the toxic effects of a drug or clinical uses of atropine, but there are so many how will I learn? How about changing all those 5 to 10 effects into one interesting word or sentence. It’s better to describe this method with an example. We have 9 carpal bones with Difficult names to memorize, so we form a sentence: She Looks Too Pretty, Try To Catch Her, in this sentence the first letter of each word is a bone,

She=Scaphoid

Looks =Lunate

Too= Triquetral

Pretty= Pisiform

Try= Trapezium

To = Trapezoid

Catch = Capitate

Her=Hammate

Interesting way, isn’t it? So, make interesting, funny, and memorable words and sentences of all those things that constantly get skipped from your mind.

8. Write it out:

       it’s always better to write or summarise things in your own words. It is proven that we remember our thoughts or our understanding of a certain topic more than what’s told to us. In this way, it becomes our saying. So another effective technique is to read a text and write it in your words.

9. Text is interesting when in motion:

In this modern world with that much success in the scientific world and easy access to valuable information, we have every topic explained in a video format, so whenever it gets too boring to read and read and read it’s better to listen to somebody, focused listening is much more beneficial than listless reading, so grab your phone and write the topic that bugs you and poof!!!! You have a teacher in front of you explaining that very topic.

10. A teacher was once a student:

So, it has been 2 hours you are reading one line again and again and you are getting not a single word? Do you know why that happens? it happens because we are just reading a text that is written by some author and not absorbing that very much. What to do now? Imagine yourself standing on the dice in front of 20 to 30 students, consider yourself a teacher who is now responsible for explaining that topic to each student. pick any of your family members or your friend or if no one is present take your favorite toy or that pet playing in the garden and explain the topic you find difficult.

These are some of the unique and tested methods for a better and more focused study.
